Dr. Albert Mohler wrote a very insightful article this week that speaks to that question. I highly recommend you read the whole article, but I found the following quote to be particularly interesting.
"This explains why talking about abortion or same-sex 'marriage,' for example, with certain liberals is usually futile. It is like trying to persuade a committed Muslim to accept Christ. Because his religion forbids it, he can only do so by converting from Islam to Christianity; he cannot accept Christ as long as he remains firmly committed to Islam. So it is with firmly committed liberals: Their 'religion' forbids any concessions to the 'conservative' agenda, and as long as they remain committed to their secular ideology, it is futile to hope for such concessions from them."
The Lord does not save through the Republican Party nor would I suggest that all true Christians vote only republican. There are Democrats who are not pro-choice or pro-homosexual marriage. However, Christians should always stand on the side of what the Bible clearly teaches and the Bible clearly teaches that homosexuality and abortion are both sinful.

If I were a prophet, I would say that you are going to get some hate mail on this one :)
Gee, ya think? Haa
Amen by brother!
Thanks Stan.
1. Why must Christians like you be so OBSESSED with abortion and gays?
2. Why must Christians like you confuse your morality with legality?
3. Your Bible also clearly labels gossip as a sin and bans women from having short hair. So, when are you going to start a political movement to enforce the gossip ban and keep women covered with their appropriate long hair?

Take a look at the right--where the topics are listed. I think if you'll find that most of what's on this blog is bible exposition. Most of the other posts are not related to either topic.

Slavery was outlawed in the 1800's thankfully. Murder is illegal. Selling crack is illegal. Now, I'm guessing that you would also agree that these would also be considered immoral. Therefore, it's not that you don't want to legislate morality, you just don't things that you think are moral legislated against.

The women with short hair thing would take a little more time to explain than I'm going to take here. I would suggest, if you were actually interested, that you look up some commentaries or sermons related to that passage in I Corinthians. Long story short-it's not wrong for a woman to wear her hair anyway she wants. Also, is gossip wrong-yes. Is it on the same level of wrong as dissecting a baby in the mother's womb and pulling it out piece by piece. Not even close.

You're gonna have to lay off the profanity, including acronyms, if you want to post comments here.

Also, any sin is enough to send a person to hell (James 2:10). There are no laws saying that gossip is legal. In fact, in some cases, such as slander or libel, gossip is actually illegal. 2nd of all, you really need to check out a good commentary for an explanation of the passage in 1 Corinthians about a womans's hair. It's more complicated than I am willing to get into here.
